MICAH'S STORY

TIME SEQUENCE

At approx.9:00 AM, Micah fell into the swimming pool.
Note:Even though there had been a concientious effort at pool safety, through a series of events, Micah gained access through a sliding patio door.
It is not known exactly how long Micah was under water.
The paramedics arrived at approximately 9:10 AM
At approximately 9:30 Micah was transported to St. Patrick Hospital
Sometime around noon Micah was transported to Memorial Hospital.This was done so that he could be in their Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
Noon on Thursday was when the satanic attack was broken. We knew that from then on it would be a matter of healing
(Note: the prophetic word that was given at this time was,"Now, it is up to Micah".
Friday at 5:30 PM, we got the report that Micah's Kidneys are functioning now.
As Micah would say, Hallelujah!, Hallelujah!, Hallelujah!, Amen.
The report at 6:30 PM is that the Doctor says that Micah will live. The thing to be concerned about now is the quality of life that he will live. The Doctor also said that we need to pray for all of Micah's organs that if there is damage they can be restored.
The Doctor did say that there is no heart damage and there is no fluid around the heart. He also reported that he would gradually bring Micah out of the coma tomorrow morning.
It was also reported that the brain has evidenced only minimal swelling. However, there is evidence of two spots of brain damage. However, it could not be determined which areas are affected.
Finally, the Doctor said that Micah does not have any pneumonia at all.
We know that God is sufficient and we are standing in faith for a complete recovery
Friday evening At 10:15 PM, the Doctor is beginning an invasive procedure on Micah.He is right now installing a two channel tubing in Micah's side. One of the tubes is for an IV. The other tube is for a sensor to monitor the heart muscle. There is a need to be able to accurately guage the amount of fluid that is available to the heart. This is needed to prevent a seizure which might occur if there is not enough moisture. Our prayer is for wisdom and skill for the Doctor and we are trusting God for a complete recovery for Micah.
Saturday morning, June 24th, 9:15 AM They are at present doing an EEG.Then, afterward, Micah will have another CAT scan.Micah is still in a drug induced coma. He spent a quiet night with no complications.Thank you for your prayers.
Saturday morning June 24 11:00 The EEG showed that there is MUCH brain activity. The CAT scan showed minimal swelling.
An interesting note:Two of Micah's aunts were each holding a hand. One of them asked Gwendy, Micah's mother. Do you think that he knows we are here? Gwendy replied, "I don't know."It was at that point that Micah raised both hands three times.
Isn't God good?
Please continue to pray that Micah will continue to heal and that we will see a COMPLETE recovery
Saturday At 3:45 PM The CAT scan showed more swelling than before. Because of this, Micah will be put on Penta barbatol to send him into a deeper coma to lessen brain waves until the swelling goes down. This may take from 2 - 5 days
An EEG will be done every hour to check the brain waves
A CAT scan will be done daily until the swelling is down. Then, the medication will be changed.
The infarctions (dead spots on the brain) have remained the same. No better and no worse.
heart beat of 157 and the blood pressure is good
Please pray for the swelling in the brain to go down.
9:15 PM Saturday evening:Unable to get his blood pressure up where it should be.So they are taking Micah off of the Penta Barbatol and going back to the previous medication. They will also stop doing the hourly EEG's.
Please pray that the swelling will stay down.
Father, we thank you for a complete healing for Micah!
Sunday Morning June 25, 2000 There was a minor crisis at 11:00 PM last night. Micah's temperature had dropped and his blood pressure was too low.
Steve called the Winklers to pray with him. They prayed and felt peace about it.
Meanwhile, The Doctor took Micah off of the Penta Barb and put him on epirffrin (sp?). Now his heart rate and blood pressure are fine.
Please continue to pray for the brain swelling to go down.
Thank you so much for your interest and prayers. We are all participating in a miracle as we trust God for a complete healing for Micah
Sunday, 11:30 AM Micah's pulse and blood pressure are good.
Please continue to pray that the swelling in the brain will go down.
Sunday, June 25, 3:00 Report. His temperature is being maintained at 93degrees.
The EEG indicated that the brain is functioning as it should
Pray for swelling to decrease and for healing of the brain.

Monday, June 26, 2000, 10:00 AM Report. The CAT scan shows more swelling and more infarction (dead cells) with deeper levels of infarction. This report is worse than the Doctor had previously thought. The dead cells are caused by areas of inadequate blood flow.
A specialist is being called in to help read the CAT scans.
Don't know if Micah can wake up on his own but may let him try later today
Going to run another EEG. Pray for Gwendy and Steve.
Gene spent the night at the hospital with Gwendy so that Steve could get some rest. Gene said, "I really feel that Ephesians 4:16 is speaking to this situation. The idea of building up the body in love."
Another scripture is Romans 4:17. God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist AS THOUGH THEY DO."
Right now, we know in the Spirit that it is God's will to completely restore Micah. That doesn't mean that we ignore the Doctor's reports. Quite the contrary. These reports allow us to focus our prayers. Our responsibility now is to bring into the physical that which we know in the Spirit.

Note: This is a recounting of the events that ultimately led to the death of Micah. This sequence of events is offered in the hopes that it can be of help in the event that you might one day experience some form of tragedy.

The reality of the Christian faith is that "every good and perfect gift comes from God"(synopsis of the scripture in the Book of James) and " The enemy comes but to steal, to kill and to destroy" (an excerpt from the Book of John)
Because we know that God wants good for us, unless He tells us otherwise, we can always pray for healing.

In those cases like what occured with Micah, even when he dies, we know that he has merely "crossed over" and is alive with Jesus.
In actual life situations, it can be difficult to know at what point you should "turn loose" of an individual. To be perfectly honest, we have more questions than we have answers.

THIS E-MAIL WAS RECEIVED AT 1:00 P.M. TODAY (TUESDAY, JULY 11, 2000).
God graced the Hardcastle home with Addy Gwen, born at 8:18 this morning,July 11. She is 7 lb., 13 oz,. and 21 inches long. She has lots of hairand is a beauty. Mom is doing fine. We are leaving to take big brotherSeth to see her right now.

Gwendy was put on Pitocin at 6:15 this morning. She did very well. Aswe are returning to the same hospital Micah was at, we are dealing withsome mixed emotions today. But we are greatful for the "Joy" that hascome this morning.

This is the sequence of events that have been the beginning of "Micah's Story". This is told by Micah's grandfather, Gene Winkler.

Wednesday morning on June 21, 2000 at about 9:00 A.M. Micah Hardcastle fell into the swimming pool. Some minutes later he was found by my wife, Gina, his grandmother. Hearing Gina's cry, I ran to the pool and dove in. Bringing Micah to the surface, I was able to hand him to Toby, our son and Micah's uncle.

I immediately cried out to the Lord as I began mouth to mouth resuscitation. Gina called 911 and received instructions from them as to what we should do while the emergency crew was on the way.

The paramedics arrived in less than five minutes and knew what needed to be done. As they worked on Micah, they were literally praying with us all the time. The cry continued to go out to the Heavenly Father for mercy and grace.

During this time there was no evident heart beat or breathing. As the ambulance took Micah to the hospital, those who were following prayed and praised GREATLY.

Steve and Gwendy, Micah's parents joined us at the hospital. They immediately began speaking life to the situation

At the hospital, one of the hospital workers came out and told us to pray for a pulse rate.(At this point the emergency personnel were working on a lifeless body).Those who were there immediately began to pray for Micah's heart to begin beating. In less than three minutes there was a pulse. We continued to pray.

Then, the word came that there was a strong pulse rate.

The Word of The Lord came: "Call on me in the day of trouble. I will answer you and you will glorify me."

As we began to now pray for Micah to begin breathing, another scripture was brought to mind. "and God breathed into his nostrils the breathe of life and man became a living soul." (Genesis 2:7)

We now began to pray, "Lord, breathe into Micah's nostrils the breath of life and he will become a living soul." With the help of a ventilator, Micah went from no breathing to breathing 75% on his own. Also, during this time, his kidneys began to function.

The personnel at St. Patrick's Hospital were really great. The chaplin as well as nurses and workers were praying with us.

The doctor came in and said,"I want to be very honest with you. Things don't look good."As he finished explaining to us Micah's condition, he ended by saying, "Of course it is God that heals and we are praying with you."

During this time, the Holy Spirit was directing the prayers of many saints in the Body of Christ. People were praying from Louisiana to Texas to New Mexico and it seemed like from all over.

SCRIPTURES AND WORDS FROM GOD

Praise the Lord. Give Him Praise
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Amen (Micah would always shout this at the end of each worship service)
The account of David praying earnestly for his sick and dying child.
This is a test. This is only a test.
Micah must go through this. It is a VALLEY of the SHADOW of death and not death itself.
The peace of God. We experienced a great sense of God's peace.
Romans 8:28 Many people will be affected because of this incident
"The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich. And He addeth no sorrow with it. (Proverbs 10:22)
Even though Micah was unconcious, his mother read to him and personalized Psalm 139. When she would get to verse 18 Gwendy would say " Micah will awake. She would then say, "Did you hear that Micah? The Lord said that you shall awake."
Steve and Gwendy continue to speak the life of the scriptures to Micah

THE LATEST EVENTS

The "cat scan" looked good. There has been minimal swelling in his brain. However, Micah is still uncouncious.
At one point, the ventilator was helping only 10%. (when he began overriding the machine and was coming out of the coma too fast, they had to slow him down for his benefit.
His hand has moved five times. (By the way, 5 is the number of grace). He has opened his eyes half way.
Many, many, many lives have already been affected through this incident. (The body of Christ ministering life is truly phenominal).
A lady who will soon graduate in nursing, was praying for Micah. Even though she was unknown by the family, she had a word for Micah. She prayed over him Psalm 118:17. She prophesied, "He will not die , but live and declare the works of The Lord.
We all, along with Micah, shout to The Lord, "Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Amen!"
Now the prayer is for more brain activity and for the kidneys to fully work. He also needs to cough and be able to breathe fully on his own.

REASONS FOR THE SATANIC ATTACK Micah's story is really a part of the story of New Covenant Fellowship in Westlake, Louisiana.

Micah's grandfather, Gene Winkler, is the pastor of New Covenant Fellowship. This is a "home church" that was begun in 1992 with a specific mission. That mission is to facilitate the move of God in the town of Westlake and around the world.

There have been several functions and events in Westlake that have been initiated through New Covenant during the last seven years. Always, the desire has been to operate with the idea of helping the ministries of all the local churches .

This past Easter, the members of New Covenant prepared baskets of live plants that were given to the offices of all the churches in Westlake. These gifts were accompanied by concentrated prayer that was made by the families of New Covenant for each of the churches. This prayer was also accompanied by personal contact with the pastors to let them know that they were being supported.

There have been several prophetic words given about a spiritual awakening in which New Covenant Fellowship would play a significant role. It was always understood that the opportunity for moving in the coming "move of God" would be available to anyone who was willing to "die to themselves" and was willing to obey God.

All of this is what set the stage for a concentrated attack of the enemy. Satan was aware of a threat to his kingdom!

THE ENTIRE 3:00 PM REPORT FOR SUNDAY

Micah had an EEG and the tech said that the brain is doing what it is supposed to do.
All day he has been twitching and moving. The Doctor speculates that this indicates that the swelling is going down.
There will be no CAT scan today
Tomorrows Cat scan will show one of three things:
1.The swelling has peaked and is decreasing.
2. Still swelling some.
3.Swelling is about the same
The temperature is now 93 degrees
Micah has a puffy face. This is probably from his lying down and from the fluids that he had received yesterday. The Doctor is not concerned about this.
Micah is on TPN (total parenteral nutrition). This is a provision for the total caloric needs by intrvenous route for a patient who is unable to take food orally.
He is back on his two original coma inducing drugs. (One drug sedates him and one drug paralyzes him)
Please pray for the swelling to decrease and for continued healing for the brain.
